Yes, it was great! My Wife and I had lunch last sunday on the patio. Inside the restaurant was an option also, but it was such a nice day. Everyone was properly spaced apart, way more than 6 feet.
Yes we do have a corkage fee of $18 per bottle.

On the weekend they serve it.
No, this is a sit down restaurant.
Most excellent food! Great parking in back. Dr pepper was flat but iced tea was good. I'll be back...
Good food good atmosphere great staff
First time @ El Adobe Capistrano. At first I thought it would be just a sloppy touristy Mexican restaurant.Well I was pleasantly surprised, first the chips and salsa were great, the wait staff was cordial and very attentive and helpful. The Ceviche was great tasting and fresh. The restaurant is terraced and we'll kept. The courses we chose were all good, my wife had the medallions and she said it was great. I had the President's combo, no complaints here. My lil girl had the Burger. She actually ate it. I am glad that we stopped for dinner at this place, I felt I got my $$ worth.
Yesterday I had the opportunity of working a wedding at El Adobe de Capistrano! What an amazing experience. Gorgeous venue! Cute little town. From the first meeting to the day of Jannette Gonzalez, their special events manager was super sweet and very helpful. Her captains are amazing. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Everything ran smoothly because of her and her team.
I love el adobe, we have been coming for years now and I have my regular items I order. The enchilada salad and a combo plate. Chips and salsa is amazing and the restaurant inside is beautiful. They have a taco Tuesday special and they are walking distance to ships and downtown. A must visit
Beautiful historical location and ambiance, great margaritas, good service. Food was meh. I would recommend for happy hour or drinks.
We arrived for a private gathering for a celebration of life. Close to 100 people attended. Staff was efficient and attentive. Drinks from the bar were delicious as was the food. A great spot for our event.
We're had a holiday party there and it was a wonderful setting with great foods and drinks.
Food was FRESH and tasty. Quick service and attentive staff. Old style Mexican Rancho is a very nice setting.
Good place not enough parking
All I can say is....AWESOME!! The service in the cantina and the food was terrific. The best place in San Juan
President Nixon's favorite restaurant, for good reason.
This is the place to go when you are in San Juan capistrano. If you are looking to get married or are having a large gathering, this restaurant has an incredible indoor/outdoor area and it makes for a perfect evening. We and many family members have gotten married here and there are so many memories.
Food quality is good, but I wouldn't say it's very authentic or astonishing and leaves more to be desired considering the pricing. Gorgeous architecture and aesthetic, however.
Great service, but it took a while to get extra silverware.
They make the guac right at your table. Food was delicious and drinks good too. Fiesta platter really good.
I thought this place would never end! There is like 4 floors or more of this amazing restaurant! Unfortunately I was not there leisurely, I had to attend my grandmother's funeral, but the food, service, desert and drinks were beyond exceptional and I would come here time and time again!
Great food, great place. Make a reservation for your group and eat down in the old jail.
Not the location for big parties. Staff should be way more attentive. However the food was good.
I officiated at a wedding there today. It was the first time I officiated at this venue. The wedding was held outside in the courtyard and then we went into the reception area adjacent the courtyard. The staff and the grounds were very accommodating for this type of venue including a little chapel area. I would highly recommend the El Adobe for a wedding venue. The buffet style Mexican reception was very appetizing. The staff did a wonderful job serving appetizers and drinks while the bride and groom were getting their pictures taken. 5 Stars for this San Juan Landmark...The El Adobe!
This spot always delivers. They serve good dishes for affordable pricing, there no long wait even when the spot is full.
We enjoyed our lunch meal at this place. The mission style environment adds a nice touch to the experience. It's large and can easily host parties. Best of all, our waitress was friendly and the meals were good. If you head to this place, there's parking in the rear. We're happy to have found this spot to eat at while on our way up to Los Angeles from San Diego.
History, if any thing else come for the history of this restaurant. This Adobe, built in 1797 by Miguel Adobe has seen alot of change. Read their history on their web site. Good Cal-Mex food, margaritas, and service. Weekends can get busy, parking in back. Located in the heart of San Juan Capistrano, a block from the mission.
Good food with a great family friendly ambient. We really enjoyed the live music played by a harpist. The artist came off the stage and played by our table songs we requested. Parking is free and located at the back of the restaurant. Reservation is highly recommended, specially if you would like to come on Saturday.
The Hostess, Diana, was very friendly and super nice. We sat at the bar and gave 3 stars because took 1/2 hour to get flautas appetizer, which, when got them, were perfect - not over fried and flavorful, highly recommend. However; should not have taken that long when both restaurant and bar not full.
Front patio service was quick as was our ordered meal. Food was fresh, hot, and pleasingly presented. And the skinny Margarita... well, try it you'll like it.
We were visiting the Mission yesterday and were looking for a place to eat. We asked some Mission volunteers where they might recommend. All 3 said to go to El Adobe if we were looking for Mexican fare, which we were. It was also just a 5 minute walk. What a treat! Our waiter, Alberto, brought home made chips and salsa to the table and advised us as to what we might enjoy. Two of us had the nacho supreme, 2 shared a steak fajita, and I enjoyed a combination plate of an enchilada and chile relleno. Great service, very delicious food, and large portions. All served quickly and attentively. So glad we asked, so glad we followed the recommendation.
Very cool historical building. The food and ambiance were both outstanding. if you are a fan of Churros make sure you leave room for dessert.
The best taco Tuesday! Amazing salsas and all the meat is delicious. Big thanks to el Taquero who does an amazing job and is always smiling.
Delicious carnitas and my husband's prime rib burrito was excellent as well! Great service even though they were busy on Valentine's night.
A little pricey but totally worth it. Food is great!
The building was worth seeing. The service was very fast and friendly. The food was tasteless.
Delicious food, wonderful ambiance. We eat here locally and had our wedding here. The courtyard is gorgeous and the event space roof opens so you are under the stars. Amazing.
Wonderful Mother's Day brunch! Live Mriachi bands, LOTS of food choices and friendly service.
Fun and Friendly Service
Happy hour food and beverage. Huge rib plate is delicious.
Brought some friends from India to their first team Mexican food experience. Victor was a great waiter , and the food was fantastic!
Beautiful facility, friendly staff and excellent service. President and Pat Nixon's favorite Mexican restaurant, amazingly varied menu, delicious food and beverages. First time visit for me, I will definitely be back often!
A great location and a nice mariachi band playing, too, this is a nice place for family get togethers or romantic dates. I will admit it is pretty costly, specifically the tacos which I got 3 for $18 and one didn't really taste too well. Go over the menu before hand and and enjoy the interior decor once you get there, it's very authentic!
Stopped in for lunch on the weekend and had great service. The food was beautiful. Tableside guacamole was perfect.
Good food. Nice atmosphere but it can get a little loud. Good portion size. Parking is sometimes difficult.
OMG this place is outstanding. Mariachi plays as you eat. The place is so beautiful.
Food was good, as well as the service...but a bit pricey for us. They have some Especial items...Lobster tacos and crab enchiladas here. Overall, we had a good time.
Historic place to visit and travel back in time when San Juan Capistrano was more of a cattle town than it is today. The El Adobe restaurant site has been recognized as a California State Historical Landmark. It is situated just two short blocks south of the historic Mission San Juan Capistrano and the Amtrak Train Depot. The adobe building was originally two separate structures. The northern section was originally the home of Miguel Yorba Adobe, built in 1797. The southern half housed the Juzgado (court and jails) and was established in 1812.
Great food and wonderful service! Well worth a visit. My suggestion is get the table made guacamole and a top shelf margarita on the rocks. Always wonderful.
The restaurant is famous, in part, due to President Nixon and his wife who really enjoyed the food and dined there often. There are two chairs that they used when they visited. Patrons are allowed to use those seats. The food was absolutely delicious. I would recommend the nachos with chicken or the President's platter. We didn't get any photos because the food looked great and we dug in. A wedding reception was being held in the party area. Looks like a great venue for that. The restaurant is spacious and comfortable. Staff were friendly and courteous. Would definitely recommend.
Great Food! Great Service! Friendly Staff. We’ve been coming here for years and they have yet to disappoint. We Love the Atmosphere and decor. I highly recommend this place.
Best lobster tacos I've ever had. Our server was 5 star. Will be going back hopefully soon.
Very nice ambience. Food was above average the pricey. It was not unique in anyway. Test wise hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurants are better. It is still a very classy place when it comes to decor.
Elio was awesome. Table side guacamole was amazing and a killer happy hour! Thank you for a nice night.
